This story was inspired by a post of Seth Godin. It motivates people to be remarkable, move beyond the gap and ask permission when marketing. It can be used for motivation, teaching and inspire.
Two days ago I had a chat with Prof. Pat Keifert about his Pentecost sermon for yesterday. He said that he's going to invite people to risk following the nudges of the Spirit from a place of private fear and isolation out to public freedom and community. Freedom is often found there where we face out fears.
"To come up with your own ideas, combine your most generous self with your most creative self. Think about how to create content that makes your customers’ lives better, and dream up exciting new ways to get that content in front of them."
This manifesto is inspired by Seth Godin’s book, Tribes.
Leaders know that they have all the authority they need to start leading others towards the future. Each of us can start today creating stories of change, innovation and being remarkable. What follows is a leadership manifesto to motivate you and your team to be exceptional this year.
As leader I will let go of the status quo because I believe in a new world and new community... I will lead my team to be remarkable. I will lead others to create things of value that energise and transform our generation. I will be generous and not concerned about getting credit for what I did. I will be authentic and spend my time and energy on things I believe in. I will face my fears to challenge the status quo and change the world. I will unmask the illusion of stability and I will take a step forward. I will amplify the achievements of the people around me. I will stop fighting change and studying everything to death. I will stand up in front of strangers, propose ideas and resist the urge to blend in. I will be curious and teachable because I know real innovation will come out of the blue and will not be managed. I will stop waiting for things to happen and start making things happen. I will colour over the lines and do amazing stuff. I will seek, embrace and reward innovation. I will face my fears of being wrong and stop criticising people who actually take risks. I will paint pictures of the future. I will listen and lead because I believe that leadership can come from anyone, anywhere and from any distance. I will create platforms where ideas that work can spread. I will create a culture of gracious and honest communication around the dreams we pursue. I will stop striving for perfection (and just do the things we do better), I will change the rules and raise the bar. I know I have all the authority I need. I need to take a position and innovate. I believe it is more fun to make rules than to follow them. I will start doing this today. I will not do nothing! I will lead!
